This was my first purchase from Amazon. After I researched laptops endlessly, I found this one on Amazon. I got a wonderful price. It would have been about 400 dollars more on HP. It runs smoothly, great graphics, streams videos without any skipping due to a slow driver. All in all it is an excellent laptop with a great price tag.

The only negatives about this laptop are:

    1. The keys are very glossy. It may take some time to get used to the texture. They also show skin oils easily.

    2. On the product image it shows that the RJ 11 is available, it is not.

    3. The buttons on the touch pad look like they will not last long. I had a dv4 and I had the same problem.

Awesome product and very good value for the price. Nice and lightweight. Screen is terrific for watching movies or playing games. Keyboard and mouse pad take a little getting used to at first but are the best I’ve ever used. This computer is lightning fast! Windows 7 Home Premium with HP software tools keep everything running with ease of use. I own and heave owned several computers and this is by far the best. Will make the need for a desktop obsolete. Has all features that I could ever possibly want and need in the future.

My only complaint is that the black finish and chrome mousepad show fingerprints and smudges more that I would like. But the mocha finish is sooo appealing that I would rather live with keep rubbing off the smudges.

I love this laptop its extreamly fast and does it all I cant say enough about it I’m a Toshiba girl at heart my first laptop was a Toshiba and served me very well so I was a little nervous about getting this but the deciding factor for my husband was the HDMI port which would allow us to view media on out HD flat screen the deciding factor from out computer nerd friend was the i3 processor which to me was like Huh? But I trusted him and brought this laptop I gambled and boy did I win I absolutly love this laptop its light and sexy not a eye sore and so functional. Also the battary life isnt bad either it last 4 hours and that even while I’m burning dvds and surfing the web or watching youtube videos. I actually brought mine fro, officemax because they have it cheaper and the shipping was free 2 day as opposed to 2 to 4 weeks on amazon. This laptop is nothing short of amazing and super fast in everyway the only con is the sound and that can be fixed with speakers or headphones it you need to be blown away. The keyboard is perfect not to big not to small meaning its not too tightly pushed together and thats always a plus for me I love my Toshiba but that was one thing I hated the keyboard was aweful. Listen do youself a favor and buy this laptop its an HP and thats obviously a good thing another great thing about HPs is the customer help line when I first got this I wasnt able to go wireless in my home network so I called the Hp number and a wonderful woman was able to remotely fix the problem I didnt have to do a thing which was awesome because I have never seen the mouse moving on my computer and witnessed someone actually taking over my screen from god knows where and just fixing whatever was wrong with it. Again this laptop is amazing and I would suggest it to anyone also if you have a old laptop and want to transfer files I suggest the Belkin Easy Transfer Cables I got one while I was ordering this laptop and it made moving my files flawless and easy it copied everything I wanted even my desktops are identical now and all I did was click a button. I’m a happy camper!!!!

I have had this laptop for a week and really like it for my uses.I do not play games but other than that it is a overall great laptop for net surfing, watching dvds and other media uses.I loaded itunes and put 5 cds on my harddrive relatively easy.It only ran at 8.5x speed at the max so putting alot of cds on this will take awhile. One of the drawbacks with the DVD player is that it says you can only switch regions 5 times so I won’t be watching my PAL dvds I have on this machine,Set-up was a breeze and this is my first wireless computer. It found my neighbors networks at a resonable strenght to about 100 feet away so in any size house you should be able to use it anywhere. My network set-up and use is petty easy but I might be getting some interfernce with a wireless phone because I have to be within 15 feet or so to upload photos without losing the signal. The bottom of this does not get hot at all so you can put it in you lap and couch surf easily. The scroll feature on the touch pad is easy to use and the keyborad is comfortable enough to use and loaded photos was asnap also. The battery life is not that great so you might want to buy an extra battery if you are using this while flying of long car trips.I given it a 4 star review but if I where rating it on what I paid for it($599) I give it 5 stars. The screen is great and the HD videos on youtube look as good as HD TV but this machine does not have a blu-ray player so you are dependent on Netflix or blockbuster if you want a HD true experience.the screen adjusts the image to the type of movie you put in so a widescreeen movie fills up the screen while non-widescreens are s adjusted to get the most of the picture.

Just my luck to get the computer (DV6-2170US) that has problems right out of the box. A brand new computer and customer service had me flash the BIOS the first day! The second day the monitor stopped working altogether. Customer service confirmed it was a backlighting hardware issue, not a software issue and, therefore; I was encouraged to send it in for repair. Repair on a brand new machine??? I returned it instead. Back the my review: In the few hours in which I was able to use this notebook computer, I was able to rip some music faster than on my previous HP laptop (DV5000) or HP desktop. And, unlike the DV5000 or desktop, it was a clean rip. Would have kept the DV6 if it wasn’t broken. I agree wholeheartedly with the person who stated that the keyboard seems to be a little off…but, in my opinion, it is because of the addition of the numeric keypad to the right of the alpha/numeric keys. May take some getting used to positioning your fingers on the home row. Seemed like a nice computer though. Altogether, I have been an HP customer from way back when. It saddened me that no one from HP cared to offer me a replacement computer or a discount to keep me as a customer. This is the third HP computer I have had problems with and as the saying goes, three strikes and they are OUT! If you purchase the DV6, I wish you better luck than I had. Choose wisely. Oh, and regarding HP’s customer service, one thing I noticed, when you order from HP you will get someone in the United States, after that point, you will be dealing with someone overseas. Yes, they speak English, but…
